January Job Hunt

January Job Hunt The most used phrase around this time every year often is new year, new start this often involves lots of dieting, resolutions and for some a new job. Its important to make sure that if you are looking for a new job, you make sure that you are 100% certain that this is something you want to do and not just the struggle of going back after Christmas. In order to make sure you are making the right decision its important to weigh up a couple of things first! Set yourself some clear goals Theres no use beginning your job search with mixed emotions about whether this is the right decision. Or unsure about what job role you are actually looking for. You need to clearly map out a few goals, short term and long term goals in order to help yourself out. Our best advice would be to have a think about where you want to be in six months time, a year and so on. In order to comply with your new year, new me resolutions,  you should have a think about what you werent very happy about in your previous job and from there, start looking at the companies and their background and deeply examine what the job description suggests about the job. If you are completely changing your career, its important to not rush into a job, you must be sure that this isnt going to be something that you regret. Work on your CV For some businesses  January can be a quiet month, for others not so much. If January does happen to be a quiet month for you, utilise the free time well. Work on some new skills, read some books and prepare yourself for the change that you are about to commit to. Think over the past year, your experiences, achievements and any new skills that you have developed and update your CV ready for your new job search. This should be something that you keep on top off and if you do, youll find that it helps mark out the things that you need to work on or skills that you need to develop. Patience Its important to have some patience and not to panic yourself. You may feel as though you have applied for millions of jobs but not heard back from any. Some companies take it easy in January and others have so much to catch up on that they are nearly at their busiest. Instead of immediately thinking that the reason you havent heard back is because you arent good enough, take into consideration all of the different factors. Considering your job takes up such a high percentage of your life, its important that you enjoy it and dont make any rash decisions. If you havent enjoyed your job for a while, make 2017 your year and find a job that you love! Good luck.
